Tripp Middle School is excited to announce that Abbe Chabot will be doing a presentation on June 4th in our library for the parents of 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Her presentation, "Technology and Your Child's Safety” will focus on online safety for parents. With summer break right around the corner we felt that this would be the perfect time to think about your child's online world and their safety.

Detective Abbe Chabot is a twenty year veteran of the Maine State Police, and has been an investigator for fifteen years, predominately as a homicide and violent crimes detective. Last year Abbe transitioned to the computer crimes unit, and now investigates child exploitation online. Abbe travels the state as an educator to parents and middle-school aged students on the dangers of social media, and best practices for online safety. Abbe offers a candid view of how to manage technology, device use, and social media that is safe for our children. She is an advocate of victim’s rights, and is a career-long K9 handler.

Presentation topics include device safety, social media applications management, responsible online footprint and communications, sextortion and sex trafficking. The presentation is built with adult content to give parents a realistic view of the dangers online. As a result, this a parent/caregiver, adults only session. Abbe will remain on site after the presentation to answer questions or field comments.

We hope to see many of you the evening of June 4th from 6:00 to ~ 7:30 PM in the Tripp library. If you need childcare to attend please email Kris Wing at
